Construction of traffic calming measures in Claremont, Mowbray and Sun Valley

The City of Cape Town’s Urban Mobility Directorate would like to advise residents, road users and businesses of the construction of various traffic calming measures in Claremont, Mowbray and Sun Valley. The work starts this week and will continue until Friday, 25 April 2025, between 08:00 and 16:30, Monday to Fridays, weather permitting and provided there are no unforeseen delays.

‘The construction of traffic calming measures in Claremont, Mowbray and Sun Valley will enhance pedestrian safety, particularly around schools and play parks. The work entails the construction of speed humps and mini-circles on selected roads. All the applicable road signage and road markings will be installed and applied as well. This work forms part of our strategy to keep Cape Town moving safely,’ said the City’s Mayoral Committee Member for Urban Mobility, Councillor Rob Quintas.

The work schedule is as follows:

Claremont:
• The construction of a mini circle on the corner of Avenue De Mist, Stuart Road and Hamilton Road
• The construction of a raised intersection on the corner of Cook Road and St Michaels Road.

Mowbray:
• The construction of speed humps along Cheltenham Road between Clifton Road and Hurley Road.

Sun Valley:
• The construction of a mini circle on the corner of Sunnydale Road and Longboat Road,
• The construction of speed humps along Longboat Road between Sunnydale Road and North Road
• The construction of speed humps along Sunnydale Road between Buller Louw Drive and Strandloper Road.
